Intelligence equals profit, providing access to markets for which the special risks could not otherwise be quantified. That is why using intelligence protects your profit.

However, not all intelligence is created equal. Incident reports and news reports are often sold as intelligence but these simply tell you what has already happened instead of what will happen – relying on incident reports (epidemiology) alone is like driving down a road whilst looking only in the rear view mirror. Genuine intelligence is predictive, not historical, and certainly both an art and a science dependent on reliable resources on the ground as well sound analysis.
